Walk a Mile in Her Shoes
07/05/2012“Walk a Mile in Her Shoes®,” is a march against domestic violence. Men are challenged to put on high heel shoes and walk a mile around Riverside Park. Women can be “Sole Sisters” and show support by walking alongside the men. Join hosts, the La Crosse Riverfest Commodores, for a fun, thought provoking event, raising money and awareness, and showing support for survivors of domestic violence. Money raised will help support the YWCA of the Coulee Region and Gundersen Lutheran Medical Foundation’s Carilee Fund in support of victims of domestic violence. This Riverfest event will be Thursday, July 5, in Riverside Park, La Crosse. Registration, Check-in and shoe pick-up is from 2-5:30pm, with the walk beginning at 6pm. YMCA Performing Arts Summer Camp
07/09/2012 - 08/11/2012Directed by Steve Marking, this five week summer camp will teach skills in acting, singing, and dance. Mornings will be spent building these skills in classes, while the afternoons will be spent on all aspects of producing a show to be performed on August 10 and 11th. Participants should bring their own lunch each day. This program requires a minimum of 25 participants to run.
Registration deadline is May 18th.

The La Crosse Jazz Orchestra recreates the sounds of Benny Goodman, Glen Miller, the Dorsey’s, Count Basie and many others in a concert and dance. In addition to the swing fox trots of the ’40s, the band will perform an exciting mixture of Latin, Waltzes, a polka or two, and some rock ‘n’ roll. Dance instruction will be available from 6:00PM-7:00PM. The rain site for this event is Grand River Station.
