The Best Makes Oktoberfest Race Weekend an All-Star Event
(West Salem, WI) – The 46th Oktoberfest Race Weekend at La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway in West Salem, Wisconsin will once again become the major hub of short track racing on October 8, 9, 10, and 11th. The event will bring a gathering of fans and competitors from all over the Midwest to enjoy one last big racing weekend of 2015.
The fans will start arriving on Monday, October 5th when the popular “camper village” opens at noon. Haulers will start arriving on Wednesday, October 7th with the first practice session from 4 – 7:30pm.
In the previous 45 years, Oktoberfest has become the place where local drivers and season track champions will come together in what is an unofficial “best of the best” event within their respective divisions.
A win at Oktoberfest gives a driver the ultimate bragging rights for their division.
“One of the things we look at closely in preparation for Oktoberfest is to make the rules workable, to welcome as many competitors as we can, without them spending too much money to compete,” Chuck Deery, Oktoberfest Race Weekend Promoter explained. “It works very well every year to where we can easily see over 500 entries during the four days of racing, among the 17 different divisions.”
Fans will see something different each day at Oktoberfest.
On Thursday, October 8th, the Super Late Models will be in action with “The Futures” race. The La Crosse Late Models, La Crosse Sportsmen, Thunderstox, Hornets, Bandits, Double-O race, and Outlawz will be competing on either the 5/8-mile or ¼- mile or both ovals.
The “Dick Trickle 99” has become one of the more popular Super Late Model events at Oktoberfest, and highlights the action on Friday, October 9th. The 99-lap event is broken into three 33-lap segments with an overall winner lifting a big block of Wisconsin cheese over their head. The Great Northern Sportsmen Series and Fest Trucks are also competing on the second night.
Saturday will welcome the ARCA Midwest Tour for their time trials and qualifying heat races for their season finale on Sunday. Plus, champions will be crowned in the Big-8 and Mid-American Stock Car Series, along with the Midwest Dash cars that will be in action.
The final day will close out with the Oktoberfest 200 for the ARCA Midwest Tour cars along with the JMcK 63 for the Big-8 Late Models. The popular Vintage Cars, cars from days past will help conclude the 46th Oktoberfest.
