5 Things to Know Bassmasters & Rotary Rock n’ Ribs Edition

What more accurately describes summer than grilling out and dropping a line?

Two popular warm weather past times have joined forces for an awesome local event featuring Rotary Rock n’ Ribs and Bassmaster Elite. Here are five things you should know before you go.

We’re at the mall, y’all
The parking lot at Valley View Mall will serve as a hub of entertainment, food and fun—oh and fish—from June 21-24 (BBQ events June 22-24). Taste world-class BBQ from skilled grillers while enjoying live music and cold beer.

Bassmasters are for real
These fisherman aren’t here for a leisurely trip down the Mississippi. They’re here to compete and they do it in style. One of the best parts of the weekend is catching a glimpse of their ultra-fast, extra-flashy bass boats. They also bring along their big-time, national vendors, who will be set up for the public at the event.

BBQ is king
It’s a weekend about all things BBQ and you can smell it in the air. There’s a pulled-pork competition, a steak cookoff and of course, ribs. Affiliated with the Kansas City Barbeque Society, Rotary Rock n’ Ribs attracts some of the best grillers around. Attendees can taste and vote on the pulled pork and ribs, so get ready to pig out!

Weight for it…
If you like the sport of fishing at all, or if you just want to see what kind of creatures lurk beneath the surface of the Mississippi, make sure you stick around for the official weigh-in. Each day at 3pm, fishermen bring in their trophies, giving you a glimpse of the monsters they’ve snagged. On days 1 and 2 of the tournament, weigh-in will take place at Veterans Freedom Park. On Days 3 and 4, you’ll be able to watch at Valley View Mall.

Kids can come, too
At only $5 a ticket, it’s affordable to bring the whole family for some finger-lickin food. There’s even a Kids Q competition for kids ages 7-15 that your youngsters may find inspiring.
