LA CROSSE, WI–Bicycle La Crosse announces a preview trial run of the Hixon Forest Epic mountain bike race, the newest stop on the Wisconsin Off Road Series (WORS) circuit, to be held during the 5th annual La Crosse Area Labor Day Weekend Bicycle Festival, Saturday, September 5, 2015, at 9:00 A.M.
WORS, the nation’s largest state mountain bike racing circuit, is a 12-event series running from May through October, including the WORS Cup Pro XCT, which features the best professional cross-country mountain bike racers from all over the U.S. According to race organizers, the Hixon Forest Epic “will challenge WORS racers to kick it into gear with an excellent variety of single track, rock gardens, log-overs and berms with steep inclines and fast descents.”
The official Hixon Forest Epic will take place Sunday, September 27, 2015, with seven separate categories, both competitive and noncompetitive. Single-day racing licenses are available in select categories–see registration info at https://www.explorelacrosse.com/hixonforestepic/.
Race festivities begin Saturday, September 26, with the Pre-Ride, a family-friendly Chili Feed Party at Pearl Street Brewery, with free chili and a free pint for each race registrant, followed by a Night Ride. The day of the race also features the Hixon Forest Frolic 5K, a Kids Race, and full concessions, including Pearl Street Brewery craft beers.
The 5th Annual La Crosse Area Bicycle Festival will take place Thursday, September 3, through Monday, September 7, 2015, centering around Cameron Park in downtown La Crosse. The event will feature self-supported group road rides ranging from 30 – 100 miles, mountain biking, urban rides, architectural and historical tours, ice cream rides, pedal & paddle rides, and the End of Tour Party for Pearl Street Brewery’s Annual Tour de Pearl. All rides begin and end at Cameron Park.
