Auditions for Sideways Stories from Wayside School @ Weber Center for the Performing Arts
Apr 28 @ 7:00 pm
Auditions for Sideways Stories from Wayside School @ Weber Center for the Performing Arts | La Crosse | Wisconsin | United States

La Crosse Community Theatre is holding auditions for its Theatre for Youth production of Sideways Stories at Wayside School on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 28 and 29, 2015, at 7 p.m. at Weber Center for the Performing Arts, 428 Front Street South, La Crosse, WI.
Actors ages 8 to 17 are invited to audition, regardless of experience. Scheduled auditions are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome.

Visit www.lacrossecommunitytheatre.org for more information or call 784-9292 to sign up to audition!

The audition for this production will ask youth to participate in theatre games and improv activities and demonstrate their ability to speak before a crowd. There will be no readings or any other preparation required. The cast list will be announced at noon on Friday, May 1. Rehearsals will begin May 4. The rehearsal schedule will be determined upon casting, but tentatively will be 4 to 6 p.m., Mondays through Fridays.

Performances will be in Weber Center’s Lyche Theatre June 12-21, 2015, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m. Anyone not cast (or who is otherwise interested) is invited to help in some other way.
In this delightfully demented comedy about the strangest school ever built, the students of Wayside School battle supernatural teachers, endure madcap lessons, and have more fun in class than the law should allow! Sideways Stories from Wayside School is based on the best-selling series of novels by Louis Sachar, the Newbery Award-winning author of Holes, and adapted for the stage by John Olive.

The Tempest @ UW-La Crosse Toland Theatre, Center for the Arts
Apr 30 @ 7:30 pm – 8:00 pm

This bewitching play is believed to be Shakespeare’s final work. The story concerns Miranda, a lovely young maiden, and Prospero, her philosophical old magician father, who dwell on an enchanted island, alone except for their servants — Ariel, an invisible sprite, and Caliban, a monstrous witch’s son. Into their idyllic, but isolated, lives comes a shipwrecked party that includes the enemies who usurped Prospero’s dukedom years before, and set him and his daughter adrift on the ocean. Also among the castaways is a handsome prince, the first young man Miranda has ever seen. Comedy, romance, and reconciliation ensue, in a masterly drama that begins with a storm at sea and concludes in joyous harmony.

The Tempest @ UW-La Crosse Toland Theatre, Center for the Arts
May 3 @ 2:00 pm – 2:30 pm

GRAMMY®-NOMINATED BAND THE CHOIR TO CELEBRATE 25 YEARS OF ICONIC ALBUM CIRCLE SLIDE WITH ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME TOUR
joined by Michael Roe of the 77s on bass and opening set featuring music from the classic 77s album, Pray Naked.

NASHVILLE, TN – March 22, 2015 – GRAMMY®-nominated indie rockers The Choir have announced plans to give fans a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their landmark album, Circle Slide. The band will mark the milestone with a unique tour experience featuring the seminal album played live and electric in its entirety. The tour will begin April 17, 2015 and run in these top cities, La Crosse, WI, St. Paul, MN, Chicago, IL, Columbus, OH, Lexington, KY, Phoenix, AZ, Fresno, CA including a hometown show at The Basement in Nashville on Saturday May 9th.

A Choir show is always an event, but this upcoming tour represents a unique opportunity to experience the band live – including founders Steve Hindalong and Derri Daugherty – as they cover their iconic 1990 release from beginning to end. Adding excitement to the attraction, longtime friend Michael Roe of 77s fame will join the band on bass for their set. Choir member, Dan Michaels (sax and Lyricon) will join the tour on select dates. A listing of tour dates can be viewed here: http://thechoir.net/tour

The night will also showcase a special acoustic set by Roe, featuring songs from an upcoming deluxe anniversary reissue of the classic 77s Pray Naked album, available in April from Lo-Fidelity Records. The Choir will also play selections from their most recent studio project, Shadow Weaver.

Circle Slide released to widespread critical acclaim. Its moody, dreamlike sound comes alive on memorable tracks like “Restore My Soul,” “A Sentimental Song” and “About Love.” A 25 year anniversary CD reissue of Circle Slide will be revealed at a later date. “Even after two and a half decades,” says Hindalong, “the songs on ‘Circle Slide’ are  piritually and emotionally resonant to me. We have never played this album in its entirety. It’ll be fun for sure!”
To view the Circle Slide 25th Anniversary Tour video, click this link: http://youtu.be/Kl371zGYvJw

The Choir has been impacting audiences for more than three decades, and shows no signs of slowing down, inspired, no doubt, by their tireless fan base. In 2014, the band released not only the crowd-funded studio project Shadow Weaver but also their first live album in 15 years entitled Live and On the Wing in Music City, both released on Galaxy21 Music.
